IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanley
Montgomery
February 23, 1953 – February 23, 2024
Stanley Montgomery was born February 23rd, 1953, to the late Meriam Lamar and Marshall Montgomery in Brooklyn, New York and transitioned peacefully at home on his 71st birthday Friday, February 23rd, 2024.
Stan was preceded in death by his sisters: Annie Montgomery, Effie Montgomery and Jennifer Alfano.
Stan loved being a truck driver. No matter what other gifts and talents God granted him, he always loved driving 18-wheeler trucks. Stan was also a contractor for Morris Brown College during the Olympics. He completed the Finance Department and laid the sidewalk and bridgeway to connect over MLK, JR. Drive from the administration building to the dorms. After the quality work he did on that project, Stan was offered another contracting job by Herman Russell; however, Stan refused the job saying he was born to drive trucks. Stan drove trucks until he could no longer drive anymore.
Stan joined Heck Chapel United Methodist Church and played an integral role in the transition of building the new church Faith United Methodist Church. Stan and Pansy worked tirelessly with the leaders of the church to get everything set up for the build and move to the new location. You can see his name on the outside of the building entrance of Faith UMC. Stan was a believer in God and His Word. Two of his favorite scriptures were Revelations 3: 20-21 and Psalms 23.
Stan leaves to cherish his memories a devoted ex-wife: Florrie "Pansy" Copeland; sisters: Willie Marshall Arnold, Miriam Montgomery, Madelyn Battle (Frank), Vanessa Roberson, Felicita Dillard (Michael), Janet Watson; brothers: Marshall Montgomery, Jr., and Joe Pope; children: Maxwell Montgomery, Corey Montgomery (Sarah), Stanjai Montgomery and Remi Nycole Bega; grandchildren: Zacoria, Zaki, Zeven and Zara Montgomery; great-grandson: Ziier Montgomery.
Stan also leaves to cherish his memories a host of relatives, family and friends. We will deeply miss our father, our brother, our mentor, and our friend. May God continue to bless each of us.
