In Loving Memory of Rontorius "Ron" Smith

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Rontorius "Ron" Smith, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Brightmoor hospice at the age of 25. Although his years were few, the impact of his life was immeasurable. Ron's journey was one of courage, faith, resilience, and unwavering determination.

Ron entered this world as an answered prayer. After enduring numerous miscarriages following the birth of their oldest son, his parents never gave up hope of giving their son, Trey, a sibling. Through God's grace and perfect timing, that prayer was answered with the birth of Ron. From the very beginning, his life was a testimony. Despite facing significant health challenges throughout his life, Ron refused to let adversity define him. He was a fighter who consistently beat the odds, living a full and meaningful 25 years surrounded by the love of family, friends, and his church community.

Born with a quiet strength inherited from his father, Lester, and a gentle, loving spirit from his mother, Mary, Ron embodied the very best of both of them. His calm demeanor, kind heart, and humble nature made him a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ron was born and raised in the loving fellowship of Mt. Olive Outreach Ministries, where he faithfully served under the leadership of Bishop Donoval & Pastor Annie Miller. As a dedicated member of the youth department, he was lovingly mentored by Elders Robert and Klarisha Taylor, who helped nurture his faith and encourage his spiritual growth. Mt. Olive was more than a church—it was home, and it was there that Ron developed an unshakable love for worship.

One of Ron's greatest passions was music—especially drums. Whenever there was a service at Mt. Olive, he could often be found standing behind the drum set, quietly watching, listening, and absorbing everything he could from whoever was playing. His love for drumming grew into a God-given gift that allowed him to minister through music.

As he entered adulthood, Ron faithfully carried his talents into ministry alongside Pastor Felice and Elder Robert Tanner, serving as their church drummer. He understood that worship was more than music—it was an expression of love for God. Whether behind the drums or joyfully running the church aisles in praise, Ron worshipped with his whole heart, inspiring others through his genuine love for the Lord.

Ron received his education through the Griffin-Spalding County School System and was a graduate of Spalding High School. He was known as a dependable, hardworking young man whose strong work ethic reflected the example set by his beloved grandfather, Deacon Johnny L. Stroud, Sr. Whatever task was placed before him, Ron approached it with dedication, humility, and excellence.

Though naturally quiet, Ron spoke volumes through his actions. His perseverance reminded others to keep fighting. His faith encouraged others to trust God through every trial. His kindness left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. His life stands as a testimony that one's purpose is not measured by the number of years lived, but by the love shared, the lives touched, and the faith demonstrated.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandmother, Ollie May Smith, and by his twin brother, Dontorius, who preceded him in death shortly after the womb.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted parents, Lester and Mary Smith; his older brother, Travius Tra’ Smith, who will forever treasure the bond they shared; grandmother, Willie Mae Stroud; fiancé, Bre Fonfield; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, Outreach Ministries church family, high school music teachers, mentors, friends, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

Although our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in knowing that Ron's suffering has ended and his victory is complete. The same God who sustained him through every challenge has now welcomed him home. His life is a reminder that strength is found in faith, courage is born through perseverance, and a quiet spirit can leave the loudest legacy.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7

Ron fought bravely. Ron finished well. Ron's legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
