IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roderick B.
Jester
July 19, 1963 – July 24, 2023
Deacon Roderick Bernard Jester affectionately known as "RJ" or "Roddie" was born July 19th, 1963 to Mr. and Mrs. Horace and Fannie Mae Jester.
Deacon Jester was a 1981 graduate of Griffin High School.
He was employed at Riverside Uniform Rental for 25 years until the doors closed. Then he went to work at American Woodmark in Jackson, Georgia where he worked until he took ill.
In 1991, he met the love of his life, Ophelia. That love grew for 7 years. On March 21st, 1998 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. Their marriage was blessed for 25 years.
Deacon Jester's commitment to Christ began at an early age. He was the Vice Chairman of the Deacon's Board at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church here in Griffin, Georgia where he served faithfully for 18 years.
In his pastimes, Deacon Jesters loved watching sports. But everyone who knew him knew he was a diehard, #1 fan of the Florida State Seminoles. "GO NOLES!!!"
RJ/RODDY (as his family and friends called him) possessed a sweet spirit. He was loved not only by his family, but by all who met him along the way.
On Monday, July 24th, 2023, the Lord called his name. He answered and his spirit took flight and returned home to rest. He was preceded in death by one brother: Mr. Christopher Jester; one sister: Mrs. Bridgette Jester-Ogletree; his Paternal and Maternal Grandparents; Mother-in-Law: Ms. Jessie P. Glover; two sisters-in-law: Ms. Claudia Lue Collier and Ms. Deborah Balogun; and a brother-in-law: Mr. Albert "Butchy" Glover who he loved like his own family.
Deacon Roderick B.
