Mother Ossie M. Smith-Banks was born to the late Marshall and Sally Bussey-Smith along with her 10 siblings.

Mother Banks was a devoted wife for 67 years to the late Deacon Carental "Yank" Banks, a loving mother and faithful church member. Her servanthood was shared with the Greater Springhill Baptist Church in Milner, Georgia and Rushton Mills which she retired from after many years.

A true beacon of dedication and love, she served in the choir for 40+ years, as well as the Usher's Board for 50+ years. In her leisure time, mother would go walking at the track on Airport Road with her dear friend, the late Mother Ruby O'Neal. She enjoyed cooking and baking, flower gardening, and especially shopping and outings with Marshal.

On Easter Morning, April 9th, 2023, surrounded by loving family, Mother Ossie Banks was called to be with her Heavenly Father.

Now charged to continue the legacy of love are son: Rev. Tyrone (Earnestine) Banks; daughter: Marshal (Tracy) Hodo; sister: Jessie Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren: Tyrone B. Banks, Chris Hill, Kamesha Clemons, Toddrick Dennis and Carental Terrell; great-grandchildren: Brandon Clemons, Sonya M. Hill, Tyra Banks, Jada Slaton, Aniya Banks, Morgan Mabry and Brianna Dennis; along with a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, other relatives, church family, community members, friends and loved one's.
