Nancy Baum Watson, 92, of Hampton, GA passed away on December 4, 2023 after a short illness, surrounded by her daughters.
Nancy was born on April 4, 1931, to William J. Baum and Florence Gertrude Waterfield Baum in Oceana, VA. Nancy graduated from Kitty Hawk High School in 1949 and went on to marry James Watson. Together, they raised eleven children.
Nancy was a homemaker until her youngest child entered high school and she enrolled at Griffin Technical College and obtained an Associates Degree in Accounting. She went on to work at Army & Air Force Exchange Service at Fort Gillem, where she remained for almost 25 years before retiring in 2009.
Nancy was a talented artist, cook, seamstress, plaque maker and crocheter. She was also pretty handy with a skil saw. She spent much of her leisure time listening to gospel music while crocheting doilies from her favorite pattern. Her family will treasure the beautiful, intricate doilies that she created in her most peaceful moments.
Nancy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hampton, GA, where she sang in the church choir until her health prevented it.
Nancy was predeceased by her father, William J. Baum, and her mother Florence Gertrude Waterfield Baum; her siblings John Baum, Nellie Baringer and Florence Zazzaretti; her husband, James Watson; her children Jeffrey T. Watson, Paul Watson, Julie Fetcko and David Watson and her grandchildren Stephen Moore and Nicholas Northcutt.
Nancy is survived by her children Robert C. (Barbara) Moore, James Watson, John (Donnell) Watson, JoEtta Northcutt, Jonathan Watson, Rebekah (Lamar) Norris and Priscilla Engler. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Marla Hershiser, Cari (Jeff) Haney, Lamar (Orya) Norris, Jr., Kayla Norris, David (Jakebia) Northcutt, Ashley (Jake) Dickie, Austin Engler and Dustin Engler as well as eleven great grandchildren.
Nancy will be laid to rest with her parents at the Austin Cemetery in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to McDowell's Funeral Home, Inc.
