IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mother Earnestine
“Momma Yake” Parks-Anderson
June 11, 1939 – April 4, 2024
Mrs. Earnestine P. Anderson affectionately known as "Momma Yake" was born on June 11, 1939, and took her eternal flight to heaven on April 4, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. Earnestine was born to Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Eunice Parks in Spalding County and is the oldest of seven children.
Earnestine was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie Anderson; daughter Gloria Anderson Wright; her mother- in-law, Sarah Anderson; brother-in-law, Clarence Anderson; her parents, Ernest, and Eunice Parks; sister, Patricia Grant; and her brother, Walter Parks.
Earnestine attended local schools, including Fairmont High School in Griffin, GA, marrying the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Ronnie Anderson on September 13, 1957. They had two daughters Gloria Anderson Wright and Ronda Anderson.
During her early childhood, Earnestine attended Pine Grove Church in Milner, GA, where her father Ernest was a loyal member. Earnestine also attended St. Phillip AME Church in Griffin, GA, where her mother Eunice was a faithful member. Earnestine made St. Phillip AME Church her permanent church home after moving back to Griffin from New York City.
After getting married, Earnestine moved to New York City in 1959 to be closer to her husband who served in the U.S. Navy. She was employed as a housekeeper and later as a Parent Professional in the New York City School System, (P.S.9), where she assisted with kindergarten through fifth grade until she permanently moved back to Griffin, GA in 1979.
After returning to Griffin, to live with her retired husband (U.S. Navy), Earnestine was employed with J.C. Penny Outlet Center in Forest Park, GA, and later with Brightmoor Nursing Home in Griffin, GA as a nursing assistant until she retired in 2012.
When her daughter, Gloria Anderson Wright unexpectedly passed away in May 1981 in New York City, Earnestine and her husband, Ronnie Anderson raised their three young granddaughters Rasheda, Talaya, and Lateshia as their own in Griffin, GA.
At St. Phillip AME Church, Earnestine was a faithful and active member. Her activities included: singing in the choir; assisting Vacation Bible School; and assisting in the Hospitality and Finance Committee. While working closely with the Pastor as a Stewardess, she assisted in setting up the communion table. Earnestine loved serving on the Women's Missionary Board and her proudest moment was serving as the eldest Mother in the Church. She was a positive role model for young women and men in the church. Earnestine was loved and admired by all who met her. She wanted to be known as a kind lady who loved the Lord.
Earnestine leaves memories to be cherished in the hearts of her daughter, Ronda Anderson; sisters Laura (John) Calhoun, Odessa Jones, and Debbie Parks; her brother Grady Parks; sister-in-law, Eddie Ree Parks; and Aunt Opal Crawley; her three granddaughters Rasheda "Shea" Anderson, Talaya "Laya" Wright, and Lateshia "Tasha" Anderson; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss her dearly.
