Marcus Lovette Garland was born in Fulton County on November 30, 1987, to Delphia and Harold Garland. He transitioned to his heavenly home on August 15, 2026, at the age of 38, in his Douglas County home, surrounded by God's angels. Marcus was known for his love for the Lord, his family, and everyone he encountered. Earlier in life, he joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Griffin, GA, where he participated in all of the youth programs. Despite relocating to a different county, he remained committed to assisting others, particularly the church's elderly members. In addition, Marcus was a member of the Grammy Award-winning Atlanta Boys Choir where they tour and performed throughout Europe.

Marcus was a 2006 honor graduate of Spalding High School, where he was a member of the marching band. After high school, he earned an associate degree in criminal justice and cyber security at Southern Crescent Technical College and continued his studies in the field at Grambling State University. Professionally, Marcus worked as an implementation specialist for the Griffin-Spalding County School System. He was also involved with the district in supporting roles, such as staff training. Most recently, he was employed as an office manager for Lithia Springs High School in Lithia Springs, Georgia, which is a part of the Douglas County School District. Outside of his work with the schools, he served for five years as a customer experience specialist at Delta Airlines.

To know Marcus was to witness someone who truly understood how to live. He was bright, charming, and possessed an adventurous soul that refused to be contained. But alongside that fearless, fun-loving spirit was a steady, hardworking, and deeply reliable man—the kind of person you could always count on. Whether he was traveling the world, singing, making us laugh, or confidently declaring that nobody could beat him in a game of Spades, Marcus embraced every single moment with everything he had. Marcus was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jessie and Emzell Trice and Nell and Clifford Garland; Great Grandparents: Cora and Will Trice; Aunts and Uncles: Zenobia “Pee Wee” Kinnebrew, Gloria Jean Fuller, Clifford Garland, Jr., Ronald Garland, and Dr. Philip Hood. He is survived by his parents, Delphia and Harold Garland; Godparents: Mrs.

Leola Hill and Tina and Jim Whitner; Sister and Brothers: Kimzie Garland, Gerald (Irissa) Trice, and Tavis Garland; Aunts and Uncles: Valerie Scotts, Racine Hood, Dr. M. Gerad Hood, Bernard Trice, Fredrick “Freddie” Trice, Wayne (Dianne), Garland, Gail Garland, Donald Garland and Tyrus Garland; Godchildren: Anauncia Hardy, Quadarian Hardy, Ja’Quavian Florence, Randria Wilcher, and Jadon Harris. Best Friends: Christopher Murphy, Jaquan Maye, Jasmine Russell, Carla and Mike Morris, Nikki Bryant, Shay Gaddis, Cliftoria Garland, Lashawn Garland and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

Marcus Lovette Garland’s life was one of profound devotion—to his family, his faith, and his community. Bright, charming, and possessed of an unmistakable sense of adventure, Marcus embraced life fully and fearlessly. He was known for his hardworking nature and the steady, reliable way he approached every day. Whether he was traveling, exploring, entertaining, singing, or laughing, Marcus brought joy to every room. He lived with a loving spirit, a thoughtful nature, and a famous competitive streak. His legacy is one of steadfast love, laughter, and a joyful embrace of life, remembered by all who knew him with deep respect and enduring affection.
