Josie Lee
Watson-King
December 2, 1943 – February 16, 2025
On December 2nd, 1943, Mrs. Josie Lee King was born in Pike County, Georgia to the late Willie Watson and Josephine Smith Watson. She was the fourth child of six siblings.
On August 26th, 1961, she married her High School Sweetheart, Eddie Lee King. They shared 47 years together until death did them apart. To this Union were born two daughters.
She had a love for God and joined Fuller Chapel United Methodist Church, serving in different roles in the church. Notable among the many roles was her being a member of the Senior Choir and of the United Women in Faith. Mother King was also a long-time member of the Union Society Lodge #20.
In her younger years she was an avid softball and bid whist player. Josie was a caring and hardworking employee. She started her career as a dishwasher at The Living Center Convalescent Home and worked her way up to Dietary Manager. She dedicated 42 years and saw many company changes, retiring in 2013. Mrs. King loved to cook and make the residents happy, even taking them special treats to enjoy. She was known for her contagious laugh and feeding the neighborhood and family.
Preceding her in death are her parents and (3) three siblings: Willie Earnest Watson, Cleola Owens and Isabell Hutcherson.
Mother Josie King leaves to cherish the loving memories two (2) daughters: Gayla L. King of Hampton, Georgia and Tammy K. Moreland (Reginald) of Zebulon, Georgia; five (5) grandchildren: Michael Garner, Ashley Garner, Reginald Moreland, Tayla Moreland and Alando Richards; three (3) great-grandchildren: Noah Daniel, Michael Garner, Jr. and Lauren Garner; two (2) sisters: Barbara Williamson of Griffin, Georgia and Barnette Thompson-Glanton (Nathan) of Zebulon, Georgia; brother-in-law: James King of Griffin, Georgia; and two (2) sisters-in-law: Annie Grace Monds of Rochester, New York and Violet King of Stockbridge, Georgia; Faithful Cousins: Patrick Leeks, Darrell Phinazee and Anthony Rucker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
