Johnnie Mason Alexander Jr.

Johnnie Mason Alexander Jr., affectionately known as “Spote,” was born in Griffin, Georgia, on December 18, 1953, to the late Johnnie and Sarah (Smith) Alexander. He peacefully transitioned from this life on August 4, 2026, at his home in Ellenwood, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family.

John was a proud graduate of Griffin High School, Class of 1972. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later attended Georgia State University. In 1980, he married the love of his life, Dr. Cynthia “Fluffy” (Morgan) Alexander, beginning a loving marriage of 46 years.

A true people person, Spote was known for his infectious laughter, outgoingpersonality, quick wit, love of sports, travel, photography and passion for music. He played trombone in his high school band and enjoyed building an impressive collection of albums throughout his life.

John was also a dedicated entrepreneur and real estate professional. Along with Paul Kerr, he established Quest Realty in Decatur after obtaining his real estate broker’s license. He took great pride in helping individuals and families find homes and achieve their dreams.

Above all, John cherished his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Dr. Cynthia “Fluffy” Alexander; his children, Nutrisus Goodrum, Jon-Mikel Alexander, Jared Alexander, and Morgan Alexander; his beloved granddaughter, Kristen Holmes; his brother, Michael Alexander (Sharron); his sisters, Anita Etheridge and Susan Alexander Bass; his brothersin-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, lifelong classmates, the Grady Divas, and a host of treasured friends who were family in every sense of the word.

Spote often reminded his family, “We all we got.” He lived those words by loving, supporting, encouraging, and protecting the people who meant the most to him. He also believed, “If you do what you’re supposed to do, you can do what you want to do.”

Johnnie Mason Alexander Jr.—Spote—leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, friendship, hard work, laughter, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but his laughter, wisdom, stories, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

His was a life well lived, a family well loved, and a legacy that will endure for generations.
