A Time to Be Born
Jacqueline Caldwell-Atkins entered this realm on November 12th, 1943, to the late Clifford and Audrey Caldwell in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia.
A Time to Grow
Jacqueline was amongst the elite Fairmont High School Graduating Class - the last segregated high school in the Griffin region. She continued her education in the field of Nursing, obtaining her certification as a "Certified Nursing Assistant". She loved to say she was "Certified"! She also obtained her credentials to serve as a licensed Ambulance Driver and worked with Roger Miller's Funeral Home as an administrative assistant. Jacqueline worked for Heritage Apartments of Griffin, Georgia as a trendsetter in female management as one of the first Black Female Resident Managers of that property for multiple years. Her life's most inspirational work was her service in Elderly Care, doing private duty assignments for both In-Home Care and at Senior Citizen Care facilities inclusive of Spalding Convalescent Center, Brightmoor Senior Living and Reliance Healthcare of Griffin.
A Time to Worship
Jacqueline was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Griffin, Georgia from childhood through mid-adulthood. She passed away under the membership of New Generation Christian Fellowship Church of Griffin, Georgia, where she served as a Greeting Usher and Overall spreader of Joy and Mischief. She loved her duties as an Usher and would often speak of her escapades while greeting visitors at the door and walking to the Pastor's Study to have her informal talks. She knew no stranger and her personality was her light and her unique ability to tell stories commanded attention. She was The Master Storyteller and she blessed many with her Tall Tales that were often accompanied with a Dance.
A Time to Love
Jacqueline met and married Jeffrey Lee Atkins in the year of 1964. She had 3 Children in this lifetime. The oldest preceded in death, Jeffrey Atkins, Cynthia Atkins and the youngest Jerrick Atkins. She leaves to cherish her memory beautiful Grandchildren: First Born - Jaylin, The Twins - Hope and Faith, Children of Felecia "Lee Lee" Williams; Very caring Nieces: Sandra Martin, Bassemah Aziz, Glenda Howard, Mercedes Worthy, Angela Calloway, Montrice Wilson and Ophelia Bates; Wonderful Nephews: Danny Goodrum, John Rainey, Charles Goodrum, Sebastian Caldwell and Jeffrey Martin.
Jacqueline was the baby girl of 8 other siblings. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers: Clifford Caldwell, Jr., Clarence Caldwell and Earnest Caldwell; Sisters: Clara Caldwell-Goodrum and Annie Marion Caldwell-Rainey.
She is survived by Brothers: Georgia Caldwell, Kenneth Caldwell and Larry (Shirley) Caldwell; and Sister-in-Law: Eloise Caldwell; Her favorite Cousins: Flenoice Brown, Geraldine Buford and Joyce Gibson. Special Prayer Warriors: Apostle, Dr. Mamie Harris-Smith and Sallie McDowell; preceding her in power are Natalie Brown and Mama Johnnie Mae Dewberry. Jacqueline leaves to cherish her life a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and countless friends. Special mention to Penny Hunt and strong supporter Sheila Barkley.
