Mr. Henry James Wimbush

January 21st, 1951 – August 26th, 2026

Mr. Henry James Wimbush, age 75, of Fayetteville, Georgia, formerly of Griffin, Georgia, transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at his residence.

Henry was born to the late Roosevelt Wimbush Sr. and Grace Wimbush. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Griffin, Georgia. His faith became a lasting foundation that guided him throughout his life.

Henry was educated in the Spalding County School System and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1969. He later answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. From 1975 until 1980, Henry proudly served as an air transportation specialist—a position that reflected his discipline, confidence, and ability to remain composed under pressure.

Following his military service, Henry pursued his passion for style and creativity at Atlanta Area Technical School, where he became a master cosmetologist. With a natural eye for presentation and an entrepreneurial spirit, he opened Designer Image Hair Salon. From 1984 until 2005, Henry was not simply the owner and operator—he was the personality behind the business. His salon became a place where clients could receive excellent service, enjoy lively conversation, share laughter, and leave looking and feeling their best.

Whether he was shaping a hairstyle, perfecting his lawn, standing proudly over the grill, or spending time with family and friends, he brought his own unmistakable flair to everything he did. He appreciated beauty, took pride in his surroundings, and enjoyed transforming outdoor spaces through landscaping. When Henry fired up the grill, everyone knew good food, laughter, and fellowship would soon follow.

On August 2, 1984, Henry married the love of his life, Janice Byrd. Their marriage was built upon love, friendship, commitment, and countless cherished memories. Together, they established their home in Fayetteville, Georgia, where they shared 32 wonderful years.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt Wimbush Sr. and Grace Wimbush, and his brother, David Wimbush.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Janice Wimbush; two children, Marcus Thaynard Wimbush and Aliece Lasalle McGhee; six grandchildren, Latisha Miller, Kiandria M. Guider, Marquez Thaynard Wimbush, Sasha D. Evans, Altonneishia Evans-Thomas (Larricus), and Shiniyah D. Evans; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Henry’s memory will also be treasured by his siblings, Roosevelt Wimbush Jr. (Willie Mae) of Griffin, Georgia, Mildred Harps (Tommy) of Griffin, Georgia, Betty Ellerby of Griffin, Georgia; sister-in-law, Linda Wimbush of Griffin, Georgia; his beloved godchildren, Edward Garrod Harps, Geremy Wayne Harps, Emanuel Williams, and Danielle Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, former clients, and dear friends.

Although his chair is now empty and his voice will be deeply missed, his influence remains present—in every story shared, every family gathering, every beautifully kept lawn, and every meal prepared with love. Henry did not merely pass through this life—he left his personal touch upon it. His style was unmistakable, his love was genuine, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
