Mrs. Geraldine C. Hughley was born on October 31st, 1937, in Rincon, Georgia to the late Augustus G. and Ruby Conyers. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and attended multiple churches as her father was a Pastor and Presiding Elder for the Griffin District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Geraldine attended and graduated from Fairmont High School in Griffin, Georgia in 1956 and later attended and graduated from Morris Brown College in 1961. Upon graduating from college, she began a career of service with the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services. In her 31 years of service, she also became a supervisor within the department. On February 7th, 1964, she married the late Zire Hughley, Jr. and to this union two children were born. Geraldine also served as a faithful member of the St. Mark A.M.E. Church, in the Senior Choir until her declining health. She also served as vocal member of the Heritage Valley Neighborhood Association.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents A.G. and Ruby Conyers, husband Zire Hughley, Jr., son Gary Hughley, siblings Ancelia Bryson, Augustus Conyers (Bubba), George Conyers and a beloved nephew Darrell Calhoun.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son Zire Hughley III(Tia) of Powder Springs, Georgia; Grandchildren: Garrison Hughley, Ryan Hughley of Fairburn, Georgia and Chelsea Smith of Williamsburg, VA. A special niece (like a daughter) Felicia Calhoun of Clarkdale and a Daughter-in-love: Ivy (Roosevelt) Towns of Fairburn, Georgia. Two sisters-in-law: Elizabeth (Arthur) Childs of Zebulon, Georgia. One brother-in-law John Hughley(Punch) of Hollywood, Florida. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
