In Loving Memory of Mr. Edward Charles Stroud
Mr. Edward Charles Stroud, a lifelong resident of Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia, transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at his residence.
Born and raised in Griffin, Edward was a beloved son to his surviving mother, Willie Mae Parker-Stroud, and the late Deacon Johnny Lee Stroud, Sr. He was a proud graduate of Griffin High School, remaining a part of the cherished Class of 1990.
A familiar and friendly face in the community, Edward was a dedicated employee at several local establishments throughout his life. Many will remember him from his time as a courtesy clerk at Piggly Wiggly and Kroger. He also lent his talents to the Department of Transportation, various warehouses, and the great Dundee Mill, building a legacy of hard work and reliability.
Edward found his greatest joy and contentment in the works of his hands. He loved being outside, and his yard was his sanctuary. He had a special gift for cultivating both beauty and sustenance, specializing in growing vibrant flowers and hearty vegetables. This passion for the natural world was uniquely paired with a keen interest in the logic of computers. Whether he was in his garden or working with technology, these pastimes were where he retreated to for his peace.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted mother, Willie Mae Parker-Stroud; his siblings, Johnny Lee Stroud, Jr., Marice L. Stroud, and Mary (Lester) Smith; along with a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his quiet and gentle spirit dearly.
Edward's love for the land and his dedication to his family will be forever remembered and treasured in the hearts of all who knew him.
