Deacon Johnny Lee Stroud, Sr. was born March 5th, 1948 to the late Morris and Gracie Mae Stroud, Sr. in Spalding County, Georgia.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Mae Stroud for 59 years, and to this union three (3) children were born.

Deacon Stroud accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Lord and Savior at an early age and has faithfully served as a Deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church for many decades.

Johnny Stroud, Sr. was a hard worker and held many jobs over the course of his lifetime. Some of those include employment with the City of Griffin as an Overseer and being employed with the Oak Hill City Cemetery. He was also an entrepreneur that provided trash pick-up services for homes around the Griffin-Spalding County area.

Deacon Stroud was affectionately known as "Pop" and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed tilling the ground, working the land and watching the fruits of his labor grow in his vegetable garden. When he wasn't working in his garden, you could find him lounging in his recliner.

He had a heart for young people and wanted to see them thrive and do well in life. He took it upon himself to share his faith, insight and wisdom with those who were in various stages of life.

Deacon Stroud was preceded in death by his Brothers: Morris Stroud, Jr., Albert Stroud and Charles Stroud; and his Sister: Annie Grace Stroud Barkley Owens.

He entered into rest on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at his residence.

Deacon Stroud leaves to cherish the loving memories his devoted Wife: Willie Mae Stroud; three (3) Children: Johnny Lee (Marie) Stroud, Jr., Mary (Lester) Stroud-Smith and Edward Charles Stroud; four (4) Grandchildren, four (4) Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren and also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
