Walter James Smith, Sr. transitioned on March 17th, 2024. He was born  on December 16th, 1933 to the late Addie Joe and Jack Cleveland Smith.

He attended Vocational High School, after which he went into the United States Army. He worked as an Insurance Agent with Atlanta Life Insurance Company for many years. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Deacon Smith, Sr. was a member of the Male Chorus and also became a Deacon.

His Wife: Betty Alexander Smith; and (5) five siblings preceded him in death: (3) three Brothers: Eugene, Cleveland, Jr. and Rev. Robert Smith; (2) Sisters: Verdele Smith and Adele Dewberry.

Those left to cherish the loving memories are his (7) seven children: (3) Sons: Walter J. Smith, Jr. (Gwen), Tyrus Smith and Travis Joiner; (4) Daughters: Andrea (Tyrone) Pack, Tress Smith, Candice Smith and Kecia Smith; Sister: Louise Evans; several grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
