Deacon Charlie B. McDowell affectionately known as "CB" age 90, of Milner, Georgia was born in Pike County, Georgia, on November 18th, 1933, to the late Johnny McDowell and Ruby Kate McDowell. He departed this earthly life on February 5th, 2024, in Griffin, Georgia. Deacon McDowell was preceded in death by his wife, the late Victoria Adams McDowell. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 14th, 1957, and celebrated 60 years of extraordinary love and companionship. Together, they raised and nurtured ten wonderful children.

Deacon McDowell committed his life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful, loyal and devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for many years; he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board and in many other capacities. He loved the Lord, his family, his church family and friends.

His love for God was visibly expressed in his ability to care for and nurture others. He embodied John 13:35 "by this shall all men know you are my disciples, if you have love one to another." Because of his commitment to love God and people, he rarely met a stranger and was known for his encouraging words, positive attitude, and his excellent work ethic, sage advice, mentorship, friendliness, comforting words, and as a caregiver. His words of encouragement and acts of compassion meant something different to each person he met. He was affectionately known as: Pop, Daddy, CB, Charlie, Mr. Charlie, Granddaddy, Uncle CB, C-Breezy, Prop and Mr. McDowell.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Gary(Genan) Akins of Griffin, Georgia; Vicky Mack of Milner, Georgia; Freta Caldwell of Columbia, South Carolina; Robin (William) Green of Alexandria, Virginia; Hugh Charlie McDowell of Metro Atlanta, Georgia; Donna McDowell of Milner, Georgia; Astra (Billy) of Savannah, Georgia; Susan (Barry) Gillespie of Stockbridge, Georgia; Alan Rico McDowell of Milner, Georgia; Byron (Julvonnia) McDowell of Marietta, Georgia; his sisters, Susie McDowell Brown and Gladys McDowell Brooks of Griffin, Georgia. And his in-laws: Mattie Few of Milner, Georgia, Jessie (James Scott) of Griffin, Georgia; Margie Fallins of Decatur, Georgia; Connie Adams of Griffin, Georgia; Reverend John (Ozell) Adams of Milner, Georgia and Carolyn Ison of Riverdale, Georgia; 17 grandchildren with 1 grandchild preceding him in death, 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and dear friends.
