Mrs. Betty Jane Alexander-Smith was born September 23rd, 1936 to the late Victor Alexander and Fannie Mae McGill Alexander in Spalding County, Georgia, the youngest of seven children.

She attended Fairmont High School where she participated in the band playing the trumpet. Betty later worked briefly at the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital. During that time she married the love of her life, Walter James Smith, Sr. and to this union, three children were born.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Fannie Alexander; Brothers: Jake, Pete, Johnny and Joe Alexander; Sister: Dessie Alexander Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband: Walter J. Smith, Sr.; Sons: Walter J. Smith, Jr. and wife Gwendolyn Smith and Tyrus L. Smith and Daughter: Tress R. Smith; Sister-in-law: Louise Evans; Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren adn a host of Nieces, Nephews and many loving friends.

Mrs. Betty was also known to some as Ain' Betty was a very special person and to those who grew up around her, they understood; and to those people our family extends a heartfelt "Thank You" for the love shown.
